Norroa, use two pouches per brood box by smoking the bees, peeling the protective stickers off the pouches, and pressing them to expose the perforations. Place the pouches on top of the frames or the bottom board, ensuring there is about an inch of space for bee access. The bees will consume the sugar syrup, and the active ingredient is then used to feed the larvae, which disrupts the mites’ reproduction.
A great product for early Spring and/or Fall Treatment!
Norroa mite treatment works by using a process called RNA interference (RNAi) to stop varroa mites from reproducing, rather than killing them directly. Bees consume a sugar syrup containing the active ingredient, vadescana, and feed it to their larvae. Varroa mites under the larvae absorb the vadescana, which then binds to the mite’s messenger RNA (mRNA), preventing the production of a specific protein necessary for egg-laying. This effectively stops the mites’ reproductive cycle, providing a long-lasting control with no off-target effects on the bees or environment.
