- Are you a beekeeper?
- Considering Beekeeping?
- Just interested?
Come to Corbett to enjoy an afternoon in the rolling hills between the Sandy River and the Gorge. Here you will visit an Apiary to see and here how these lovely insects thrive, interact, and of course produce their gift of honey. The Art of Beekeeping is challenging and has evolved since the old days. Yet their fascination, at least to us, is beyond belief. From the intricate communication that constantly maintains the hives comings and goings to their interdependence with nature.
Charlie Vanden Heuvel will be leading the discussion. Charlie began his beekeeping experience in El Paso Texas when his ‘frustrated farmer’ father brought two hives to our residence. But with life and travels the life of the bee was left behind until recently. A short venture to Ruhl Bees (now Brushy Mountain Bee Farm) brought two hives to Hood River. The beginning of 2016 brought an additional dozen hives along with multiple NUCs. As an avid researcher, multiple articles were written propelled by involvement in the Oregon Master Beekeeper Program. Attaining his Apprentice Level Certification this year. Charlie also traveled to Nebraska for Michael Bush’s Bee Camp this spring to immerse for two weeks in apiaries and bee discussions with Michael Bush. He is a member of four Beekeeping Clubs.
Bring your family! The science of bees is probably the easiest to understand and provides insights into all other forms of science. Your children will love it!
